Jagger founded HVO in 1911 and laid the foundation for all current studies of active Hawaiian volcanoes. Kilauea hasbeen monitored ever since, making it one of the better studied volcanoes.Still there is much that we still do not understand about the inner workingsof this volcano.    Many of the members of Hawaii Center for Volcanology are working on Kilauea or have gained insights into the nature of volcanoes from visiting it. All three of the primary regions have excellent spots to enjoy Snuba and Scuba Diving. When planning a Hawaiian Cruise, you will want to make certain you arrive during a time where whale watching is possible. While dolphins are around most of the time, the whales migrate, so they are only seen in Hawaii during the winter months. There are many different types of Cruises to Hawaii, ranging over various lengths of time. They tend to range from one to three weeks, which allows you to see many areas of the islands and spend a notable amount of time in port. If you want to stay for a longer period of time, you will need to contact your Travel Agent and inquire about one-way trips on different cruises. When in port, you may choose to go sailing with a charter to places that your cruise does not go. As there are many reefs and other islands in the area, your Hawaiian cruise will not visit them all. Each of the three regions have many different Hawaiian golf courses that you can visit. When you have several days in port, this is a good way to see some of the most beautiful parts of the island while indulging in a fun game and hobby. When taking a Hawaiian Island cruise, your trip will not be complete without indulging in a Hawaiian Luau. Cons: Eating-in means you take your to-go styrofoam container and sit at a table. I work down the street so actually come here fairly often. Its really cheap and they give you a good amount of food. I like the teriyaki plates and the bento box. I LOVE the Aloha Saimin. This consists of a bowl of incredibly rich soup, with saimin noodles, teriyaki chicken, spam, and a fresh fried egg on top. All this for under $5. The macaroni salad is to die for, btw, and I have been known to order huge party plates of it, along with party plates of shortribs, to bring to pot-lucks. The Loco Moco is for the big eaters - two huge hamburger patties over rice, with lots of gravy, fried eggs on top and mac salad on the side. Yep, its Hawaiian alright! For less than $4, you can get a teriyaki mini-plate consisting of meat, rice and macaroni salad. Oh, and the proprieters are extremely sweet.
