My name is Mike Crawford. I've been fishing in Maui waters since the late 60's -- professionally for over 25 years. I don't operate my own sportfishing charter business anymore. Instead I rely on my experience to personally direct Maui visitors to the fishing operator which best fits their needs. At Fish Maui.com you'll find thorough, honest information about the Maui sport fishing industry. When you arrive on Maui, you're gonna find yourself BOMBARDED by activities agents -- 90% of whom know abolutely NOTHING about fishing. Most are profit driven, and will do their damndest to book you on a charter boat which pays the highest commission, regardless of the quality of the trip. I run FishMaui.com because I REALLY LOVE fishing. If you email me, you WILL receive a personal response in return, typically within a few hours. No canned, impersonal messages, no hype. Simply answers to your questions about fishing on Maui. So for now, surf the site, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email or call me at home at 877-889-7035. It is the primary hub for domestic overseas and interisland flights and is currently one of three State airports accommodating international flights. Honolulu International also functions as a joint military-civilian airport sharing airfield facilities with Hickam Air Force Base. The Airport occupies 2,216 acres of land and 2,210 acres of water about three miles west of Downtown Honolulu, and seven miles from Waikiki. The airfield consists of two parallel east-west runways, two parallel crosswind runways, associated taxiways and navigational aids. Facilities include a complex of general aviation, air cargo, and airport support facilities at the south Ramp near Ke'ehi Lagoon and the passenger terminal complex at the North Ramp. A complex of maintenance and air cargo facilities, principally for the interisland airlines, is located west of the terminal complex. In ancient times, Oahu was called the 'gathering place'. Voyaging canoes from all other islands would meet on Oahu's shores. Today Oahu is again the 'gathering place' that includes visitors from around the world. The voyaging concept, therefore, is particularly appropriate as a metaphor for travel in the Honolulu International Airport, the major airport of entry and departure for the Hawaiian Islands. It provides a link between the travel of the early Hawaiians and the visitor today. Wailea has internationally-acclaimed condo complexes built on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Both Wailea and Makena properties include condos on the beach and on the beautifully-manicured fairways. Kapalua and Kaanapali resorts on West Maui have many condo developments on the shore, and sprinkled among the world-class golf courses. Upcountry is zoned agricultural, and here you will find horses and cattle, farms and vegetables. Building restrictions do not permit condo developments in this region, but Pukalani is an exception. The central section of the island--the Kahului and Wailuku areas--have newer Maui condos set among older homes. Affordable Condo Rentals and Homes The resort communities of Maui are expensive. These areas are prime real estate--exclusive and upscale. Fortunately, however, there are several affordable areas nearby. On South Maui, Kihei is home to locals who work in the hotels and resorts. It also provides lodging, accommodations, and condos at budget-conscious prices. Lahaina, on West Maui, is an old whaling town, and it successfully mixes older homes with newer Maui condos. Central Maui, the civic, commercial region of the island, also offers a potpourri of types and prices of housing. With the hot tourist spots located on the southern coast of Maui (West and South Maui), the central isthmus takes care of the business of the island. Depending on location on Maui, a visitor can find a range of condos from luxury to affordable, from beach front to hillside.
