Maui Activities are in abundance available, but first let's find out more about Maui. Maui is one of the islands of Hawaii. The second largest island of Hawaii to be exact and is also known as the Valley Isle. Wailuku is the seat of the County of Maui, which includes the islands Kaho'olawe, Lana'i, Maui and Moloka'i. The weather on Maui and in all of Hawaii is the main reason it is such a popular year-round vacation destination. Lets face it, it beats being snowed in Chicago. Part of the reason we have such a wonderful weather here is because of the trade winds that blow in nice warm air from the ocean and the leeward side of the island is in the rain shadow. This side of Maui so not too wet ;but hotter and wetter on the windward side. Most MAUI RESORTS are located on the leeward side of the island. The closer you are to the windward side the more it will rain. The difference between these two climates is what gives rise to the famous MAUI RAINBOWS. The spectacular waterfalls that you probably have seen on some Hawaii Island poster advertisers can be seen best when viewed from the helicopter flight. Lets not forget one of the most important part of any vacation. GOING OUT TO EAT! The restaurants of Maui are from very local great food to world class restaurants featuring world known chefs. One of the most popular dishes here is of course Ahi, and Mahi tunas. Ahi is a Hawaiian name for "big eye, and Yellow fin tuna". There are so many activities on Maui that is impossible to describe them all here. We will be happy to assist you in any Maui activities you decide to participate in. Some of the Maui activities information and booking that you can reserve with us are: Maui Bike Tours Maui Snorkeling Maui Sunset Cruises Maui Horseback Riding Maui Kayaking Maui Wale Watching Maui Parasailing Maui Surfing And much More So if you are ready to experience life's greatest thrills while you are on Maui, book one or more activities with us and will take care of all the guesswork, and the paperwork before you arrive here. HAWAII For proposed constitutional

Hawai`i State Constitution - Section Titles publications | reference desk | library catalog | state directory | iClips | guide to lrb section titles preamble article I | article II | article III | article IV | article V | article VI | article VII | article VIII | article IX | article X | article XI | article XII | article XIII | article XIV | article XV | article XVI | article XVII | article XVIII | index (pdf, 45K) disclaimer | updated 01.01.05 | <<home | THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF HAWAII For proposed constitutional amendment to Article I, see Act 60 onpage 301 of the 2004 Session Laws of Hawaii. The Hawaii Constitution was framed by a Constitutional Convention underAct 334, Session Laws of Hawaii 1949. It was adopted by the people atthe election held on November 7, 1950, and was deemed amended when threepropositions submitted to the people in accordance with the Act ofCongress approved March 18, 1959, 73 Stat 4, Public Law 86-3, wereadopted by the people at the election held on June 27, 1959. As soamended, it was accepted, ratified, and confirmed by Congress by the Actof March 18, 1959. It went into effect on August 21, 1959, upon theissuance of a presidential proclamation admitting the state of Hawaiiinto the Union. The Constitution has since been amended a number of times in accordancewith proposals adopted by the legislature or by constitutionalconvention and ratified by the people. The source of these amendmentsis indicated in the source notes immediately following the text of theamended or new section. Revision Note On November 7, 1978, amendments to the Constitution proposed by theConstitutional Convention of 1978 were presented to the electorate forits approval. The Lieutenant Governor's computer report showed that allof the proposed amendments passed by the necessary constitutionalmargin. However, the Supreme Court of Hawaii in Kahalekai v. Doi, 60 H.324, 590 P.2d 543 (1979), held that a number of the proposed amendmentswere not validly ratified. The revisor has deleted from theConstitution these invalid amendments and added explanatory notes to thesections concerned. This deletion has been done under the authority ofResolution No. 29 of the 1978 Constitutional Convention authorizing therevisor "to effect such necessary rearrangement, renumbering andtechnical changes of the sections within the articles of the StateConstitution, as may be affected, for proper form and arrangement andproper order in the State Constitution in the event that any or some ofthe amendments to the State Constitution proposed by the ConstitutionalConvention of Hawaii of 1978 are not ratified by the electorate." In addition to the abovementioned amendments, removed from the text ofthe Constitution, there appear to be other proposed amendments that mayhave failed of ratification. A number of unspecified amendments, involving technical, stylistic, and incidental changes, were submittedfor approval by the electorate under Question 34. As to these, theCourt stated: The question of whether any amendment submitted for approval by QuestionNo. 34 was in fact approved ... dependents on its effect uponsubstantive law. If the amendment is purely stylistic and technical innature, and does not alter the sense, meaning or effect of any provisionof the Constitution, it was approved by the electorate and has become apart of the revised Constitution. On the other hand, if the amendmentalters the sense, meaning or effect of any provision of theConstitution, it was not ratified and is not effective to change thelanguage of the Constitution. Obviously, we are not now in a positionto make these line by line determinations. The revisor does not consider that the authority granted underResolution No. 29 embraces the elimination of proposed amendments ashaving failed of ratification where the issue has not been adjudicated. Thus the text of the Constitution includes all the proposed amendmentssubmitted for ratification under Question 34. As an aid to the readers, however, an attempt has been made to identify all suchamendments--except those obviously purely technical and stylistic andclearly nonsubstantive (which have been ratified)--and explanatory noteshave been appended thereto. If you're having trouble finding a place to stay or simply haven't the time to conduct a search on your own, visit our Reservation Desk and let us do the searching for you! As our #1 concern is to get you a place to stay on Maui. Few places on earth are as blessed as Maui, Hawaii, a tropical island of legendary beauty and rich history. Even within the Hawaiian islands it's referred to as "Maui No Ka Oi" or Maui is the best. As a complement to its ideal climate, Maui has a variety of spectacular natural wonders. World-famous beaches, lush Iao Valley, Haleakala volcano, Molokini crater-island, pastoral Upcountry, the tropical Hana coast and Seven Pools are just a few of the fascinating sights. The sports enthusiast will find great opportunities for championship golf, tennis, windsurfing, surfing, scuba, snorkeling, biking, hiking, and deep sea fishing. Other popular activities include shopping in the old whaling port of Lahaina, whale watching and dining in Maui's many fine restaurants. You might say it just doesn't get any better than this! Did you know Ka'anapali was selected as the nation's best beach? Having a resort as its backdrop didn't stop Dr. Beach from choosing Ka'anapali as the best beach in the nation, the ninth time a Hawai'i strand has won that honor. Dr. Beach, coastal expert Stephen Leatherman, chose Po'ipu Beach on Kaua'i two years ago, and like Po'ipu, Maui's Ka'anapali is a resort beach. Leatherman doesn't mind some hotels, as long as the beach itself isn't too crowded by them. Folks at the Ka'anapali hotels said they're pleased, but not surprised at the designation. "The connectivity down from Black Rock all the way to Canoe Beach, softsand, a wide beach, both tranquil water for snorkeling and surf for surfing andboogie boarding — we think that it's one of the great beaches," saidBarry Lewin, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, whichanchors the southern end of the beach. When Dr. Beach, a meteorologist and professor at Florida International University in Miami, selects a shoreline as his favorite for the year, it's taken out of the running permanently, but Hawai'i does not appear to be running short. Three other Hawaiian beaches made it into Leatherman's top 10 this year: Hanalei on Kaua'i, Makalawena on Hawai'i and Hanauma on O'ahu. Previous Hawai'i winners were Po'ipu in 2001, Mauna Kea Beach in 2000, Wailea in 1999, Kailua Beach in 1998, Hulopo'e in 1997, Lanikai in 1996, Hapuna in 1993 and Kapalua in 1991.
