The park encompasses diverse environments that range from sea level to the summit of the earth's most massive volcano, Mauna Loa at 13,677 feet. Kilauea, the world's most active volcano, offers scientists insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and visitors views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. Over half of the park is designated wilderness and provides unusual hiking and camping opportunities. In recognition of its outstanding natural values, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park has been honored as an International Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site. We would like to thank the thousands of peoplewho have sailed aboard the Hawaiian Chieftain over the past 12 years.It really is all about teamwork, we could not have done it without youand thank each and every one of you for your support. While we know that the Hawaiian Chieftain will be greatly missed, we are pleased to announce and endorse the programsthat CALL OF THE SEA will beoperating in the San Francisco Bay Area. Call of the Sea is an educational non-profitorganization dedicated to connecting people to the sea through the uniquehands-on learning experience of sailing aboard a traditional ship. Originally founded in 1984 by local sailors and headed by Capt. Alan Olson,it has recently reorganized by merging with Voyage Seaward, a like-minded,dynamic and dedicated group led by Capt. Ken Neal-Boyd. This neworganization will start educational programs this spring. These powerful experiential and educationalprograms will serve a wide variety of San Francisco Bay area youth andcommunities. Many will come from at risk and underserved backgrounds.To help provide funds for these programs, CALL OF THE SEA will offer privatecharters, public sails and adult educational sailing programs. We have our own in-housefully equipped 24 track recording and mastering studio offering a quickturnaround of your material which will be returned for your approval. It is a fact that most of the tracks sent to ushave not been mastered - not surprising - most home studios don't have thespecialised equipment necessary. We will accept tracks on CD, mini-disc or tapecassette for evaluation and these will not normally be returned due to pressureof work. It goes without saying that original material hasthe greatest chance of success although cover tracks have their appeal if thearrangement is unique. When we receive a positive interest from Heads ofMusic etc a commercial package must be prepared and this includes glassmastering the CD, labelling and preparing the graphics for the booklet and addingbarcodes etc. Minimum quantity is 1000 copies as many of these will bedistributed by pluggers for maximum impact.
