Island Flavor Lindsey Cassiday and Ralen Chang have lived in Hawaii their whole lives. It's where they met and where their relationship blossomed—so it's no surprise that their wedding was a celebration of the islands' distinctive culture. The intimate, outdoor ceremony, at the home of Lindsey's parents in Diamond Head, Oahu, was performed in both English and Hawaiian by a friend, Ka'au, who acted as kahu (priest). The aisle was strewn with yellow and white plumeria, a local flower, and as a special addition to the ceremony, the couple honored their parents by presenting them with maile-leaf and ginger leis. Barefoot and Wedded The bride and groom recited their vows facing the ocean, surrounded by their wedding party. The bridesmaids wore simple sleeveless white tops with pale-blue skirts and pikake choker leis, similar to the choker Lindsey wore. The groomsmen were dressed in Hawaiian-print shirts in gray and pale blue; they wore green maile-leaf leis like Ralen around their necks. The only thing missing? Shoes—all of them were barefoot. Hula Hunks In the clear-topped reception tent, with views of the South Pacific sky, Lindsey and Ralen took their first spin on the dance floor to "Hawaiian Rainbow," by the Ho'opi'i Brothers. "We chose that song because it's all about the islands and their flowers," says Lindsey. Her favorite moment was when the wedding coordinator surprised everyone by leading the groom and groomsmen in the hukilau , a special hula. It's a Hawaiian tradition for the bride to do a hula for her groom on the wedding night, but at this wedding, the roles were reversed. "The hula was hilarious because Ralen and his groomsmen were in matching outfits," says Lindsey. "Everyone was laughing and cheering." Both Male and Female must be 18 years of age and single. 2. Valid Photo Identification is required for both bride and groom. (Driver's License is adequate identification or Passport for non-US citizens). Must obtain a marriage license from the State of Hawaii. There are several Marriage License Agents on the Big Island whom can issue your license. Please note that most of them are not open on weekends or state and local holidays. We will be happy to make your appointment for you. Purpose: The client has an extensive selection of collector quality Hawaiian shirts to sell. These are NOT just 'normal' vintage shirts, many of them are featured in books about the subject! Budget: PC Mojo doesn't disclose budgets except in very general terms. This web site was published for under $2,000. Web Site Size: Medium. Due to the extremely limited availability of quality vintage Aloha shirts, the client expects to maintain an inventory of between 120 and 200 shirts maximum. The PC Mojo Solution: All original graphics were designed. Because this site has a distinctive focus on Hawaiian shirts, we tried to use a tropical theme. Jungle flora adorns the top and bottom corders, and woven bamboo strands border both sides of each page. We think it looks cool, yet isn't so distracting that it detracts from the quality of the shirts. The site is hosted on a on a Windows 2000 server. The backend database is ODBC for the time being, and all programming for site administration, catalog maintenance and shopping cart functions was custom written using Cold Fusion. A custom shopping cart was developed for the site. The client is able to add a new shirt to the database and upload up to four pictures of each shirt by completing one simple form. Because these are rare and unique shirts, each image is reduced to a manageable size for display on the web pages AND the original image of any size is also kept. The reason for this is that the detail of each shirt is important, and anybody interested in purchasing one of these shirts won't mind waiting for a huge image to load on their screen if they can then see the details.
