Dedicated to supporting technology-oriented businesses, MRTC brings together a diversity of enterprises from industry niches as varied as astronomy and biotechnology. MRTC is home to startups, technology companies phasing in Maui operations, and compelling federal technology projects. Situated on Maui's sunny south shore, MRTC is an indeal enviroment to grow a high tech company while enjoying the spectacular natural beauty of the island. I tried this place due to the reviews below...the transplanted hawaiians may not have possessed a good palate in the first place...not recommended. Would you really order rice AND potato salad if you had a choice? The problem is that too much of the menu is "sort of" Japanese, so it seems not quite right, though it may be very authentic Hawaiian. I came thinking I would get a good hawaiian BBQ like those I had enjoyed while a college freshman in Honolulu, but the BBQ chicken here is not even close. Ask anyone from Hawaii what they miss the most about home and the response is usually "the food". I can't tell you how happy I was to discover that L&L has come to Manhattan! My mouth waters everytime I think about it. They also have Portuguese sausage, which any local knows is a staple to a true local breakfast. I've eaten everything on the menu and I have to agree about the saimin, not the true local style. My only complaint...the one on 8th ave doesn't always play Hawaiian music. Nearby are the Humpback Whale Education Center, Makena State Park, and Maui Ocean Center. Hotel amenities include 24-hour front desk, car rental desk, concierge, currency exchange, babysitting, limited room service, baggage hold, and local shuttle service. Dining is available at any of three onsite restaurants including Le Gunji, Capische, and the Restaurant Taiko, which offers Japanese and French cuisine, as well as an extensive sushi bar. Named for Duke Kahanamoku, who popularized surfing to the rest of the world, this man-made beach and the lagoon were finished in 1956. Location :: In front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Ewa (west) end of Waikiki. Access :: Kalia Rd, then Paoa Pl. Services :: Rest rooms, surf board rentals, beach equipment, food and drink concessions, catamaran cruises. Notes :: The Hilton is also known as the "Rainbow Hilton" because of the rainbow mural covering the makai end of the hotel. It was the opening credits of the TV show "Hawaii Five-0." Fort DeRussy Beach Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. Owned by the US military and open to the general public. Location :: In front of Ft. DeRussy and the Hale Koa Hotel. Access :: There's a right-of-way through DeRussy from the street to the beach. Services :: Rest rooms, picnic grounds, food and drink concessions. Notes :: There's no "fort" on the grounds.
