About Art and windsurfing.com About Pascal Jean Delorme " Y ou may ask yourself, why paint boardsports? With my broad travel across Europeon countries, I was lucky by being able to spend a fair amount of time on the beaches and coastals of these beautiful countries. This provided me with the opportunity to try my hand at various board sports like Windsurfing, Wakeboarding, Waterskiing .... Since I already had a passion for painting, I thought, why not mix the best of both worlds and express my love of these sports through art. My first ventures are with water based board sports, windsurfing ,but, I don't plan to stop there. I would like to venture further into the wintery world of board sports so that I can continue to express myself through my paintings". Explore the ambiance and activities of this back-to-nature destination and discover a truly unique Hawaiian experience. 4000 ft above the sea, giant tree ferns, lofty ohi'a-lehua trees and fragrant ginger create a lush refreshing appeal in contrast to the primal volcanic land. Temperatures are cooler than are typical of Hawaiian coastal areas. Rainfall is a natural part of the native rainforest with misty rains alternating with clear skies. Hike, bike or drive the CRATER RIM DRIVE in Volcanoes National Park. Be invigorated by its craters, steam vents, lava tubes, and rainforest trails. For the adventurous, the Chain of Craters Road winds down to the coast where vast systems of lava tubes carry active lava flows into the sea, creating the newest land on earth. Another exceptional experience while in the National Park is a visit to the VOLCANO ART CENTER GALLERY , with its collection of fine arts and crafts, available for purchase and displayed in the original historic Volcano House on the edge of Kilauea Caldera. The Volcano Art Center is currently developing an arts and environmental campus on 7 acres of land in Volcano Village. This new facility will expand its already well-established and ongoing programs in visual, literary, and performing arts. These include an acclaimed hula and Hawaiian music series which garnered a prestigious Kihili Award from the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau. The outlying community is a mix of scientists, artists and local entrepreneurs in a village-like town with a variety of restaurants and cafes. The village and its surrounding inhabitants blend almost imperceptibly into the native-forested landscape. The whole area has been designated by the United Nations as an INTERNATIONAL BIOSPHERE RESERVE AND HISTORIC SITE. Volcano is a destination in which to relax as well as be active, a place to be awed and slow down, to get in touch with oneself beyond the often busy pace of daily life. Surreal and serene, it is a place which is empowering, enduring and ever-changing. The harmony of man and nature here attracts aware and sensitive individuals whose values show concern for the earth and its remaining places of great natural beauty. "Perhaps this village of 3,600 (inhabitants) can show us how to better tend the land and each other as we move into the new millennium." HONOLULU STAR BULLETIN DAY TRIPS FROM VOLCANO PUNA Experience old Hawaii along the old road on the PUNA COAST with its papaya farms, hot pools, black sands beach and newly-created land - 1-hour drive each way. Visit WOOD VALLEY with is hidden Tibetan temple, and nearby PUNALUU BLACK SAND BEACH with its green sea turtles, often seen sunning themselves on the shore. Soon, trade winds scattered the seeds that grew into incredible flowers, bamboo and fragrant papaya. Today, come to Hawaii for the unexplainable, the utterly magical, and find bright anthuriums growing wild, volcanic peaks soaring to 14,000 feet and vibrant poinsettias when it isn't even the holidays. For all their similarity, each island has its own distinct personality. Like Hawaii, the big island, with Kilauea's crater where some say Pele, the fire goddess, lives. Maui, with remote swimming spots so beautiful, they were once reserved solely for Hawaiian royalty. And Honolulu, where the cliffs and waterfalls are often visited by spectacular rainbows. Yet there is one thing that all of these islands hold in common. It's called 'aloha,' the spirit of welcoming. HAWAII BEST CRUISE DEALS Have Fun in Hawaii! If you have ever been then you would know EXACTLY what to expect - inexpensive, tasty and plentiful portions of Asian inspired dishes. YUM! Posted by Anonymous on 08/17/2005 Ordered Delivery The food was good and the price was great... Posted by ed on 07/06/2005 Just fair Ate at this location july 3. Mediocre at best. This is just a fast food restaurant. Posted by Boy Bunny on 07/05/2005 Paradise Pig Out Don't let the fast food decor fool you--the food is delicious AND cheap! I had the kahlua and lau lau combo--any restaurant that allows you to double up on pork is all right in my book. It was served with rice AND macaroni salad--two carbs instead of just one! Along with the usual ketchup, mustard, and relish, there was a very good Vietnamese hot sauce on the condiment stand. Lest you think I'm totally unhealth conscious, the taro leafs and cabbage that came with the kahlua and lau lau were tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about my dining experience. Posted by islander on 06/18/2005 Gotta love it Finally, authentic tasting island style bbq...cheap and does the trick. Having been away from the islands for a while, it's nice to know that I can still get a taste of home here in NYC. BBQ chicken, kalbi and mac salad just as I remember it. I was surprised they even had spam musubi! Read More ...
