It is, however, not native to Hawaii. It is native to tropical and subtropical America. The flowers are found in colors of white, yellow, pink, red, and multiple pastels. In Hawaii one of the best places to view plumeria is at the Koko Crater Botanical Garden - a 60-acre basin inside Koko Crater on the eastern end of the island of Oahu. These plumeria photos are made available by Dr. Kent Bridges, Associate Professor of Botany, at the University of Hawaii. View the photos... Friday January 20, 2006 | permalink You Won't See This Sign at Home! This certainly isn't a sign that you've ever seen near your home or, in fact, anywhere else in the world. As reported in Monday's Maui News, state and federal agencies are posting new warning signs at harbors and boat ramps in Hawaii. They are doing this out of fear that more boating traffic increases the potential for collisions with humpback whales during the winter whale season. View a larger version of the sign and read the entire article in the Maui News. Read more... Having thoroughly enjoyed the tour on Oahu, I was expecting that I would also enjoy the Maui tour, but I didn't expect that I'd really enjoy it as much, if not more than the tour on Oahu. Tuesday January 10, 2006 | permalink Sheraton Maui Resort Special Packages for 2006 The Sheraton Maui Resort has announced their special packages for 2006. The Sheraton Maui is my personal favorite of the many fine Kaanapali Beach hotels and resorts. It's a top notch resort with a great staff and is certainly not hurt by its prime location at at the north end of Kaanapali Beach near Pu'u Keka'a, the famous Black Rock where the beach is the widest and the swimming and snorkeling are superb. This location gives Sheraton guests a unique sense of privacy. You never feel that you are nestled into an area with many other condominiums, hotels and resorts. Take a look at these specials for 2006. There is no place on earth with the selection and service as the windsurfing shops of Maui. Highly competitive, and eager to help you have fun, Maui's shops are stocked with the latest and greatest rental fleets and merchandise. Half the fun of preparing for a trip to Maui is investigating the shops. I encourage you to ask your friends about their experiences with particular shops and keep in mind that other shops you may have not heard about could be pleasant surprises. None of the shops listed here are lacking in any way. It may be no more than, " you like the guys at the counter " that makes one shop more attractive to you than another If yer asking me what I think personally? I like them all. I stand on my personal reputation when I say that the people of Maui' s windsurfing retail are all the kind of guys (and gals) you'd love to sail and party with. The shops are listed in the order that they submitted their responses to me. HI: Maui's most complete rental center. We offer every level of rental gear. From learning waterstarts to high performance slalom and wave boards. HT: We are the only shop that owns it's own factory, so we have the newest board design and board construction in our rental fleet. SBM: 200 boards, none over 1 year old, 7 different lines. Something for everyone. WR: We never run out of equipment and keep up to date 1995 equipment. CB: We are willing to negotiate. Rental ware almost new. MWC: We doubled the size of our fleet for 1995. We also have a great selection of high performance surfboards to rent. From 10' longboards to 6' shortboards. Rental Equipment Prices... 7 day board/rig and two sails (exchangeable at any time) I have decided that publishing the prices may begin a cheesy price war and get me in trouble on this small island. I will tell you that the prices vary from $240-$280 . Prices also fluctuate according to time of year. (It's more in the summer when the shops are rockin and less in the very sailable winter months) Although it is not published anywhere...Many shops have an attitude discount. Smiles count for a lot on Maui.I urge you to consider minor price differences as insignificant relative to service and equipment offered. Check out all the shops for the best value before you decide.. The smart thing is to call around well in advance. Particularly in the summer season. OK, bitch at me. Price for 30 days rental? Again, the shops vary only slightly from one another. the range is $540-$570 What is your policy on damage to rental gear? HI: We offer insurance to clients for damaged equipment. HT: Customer pays for damage unless a manufacturers defect SBM: $3 a day insurance. $20 deductible. Covers damage, not theft. WR: Customer pays for replacement or can have insurance for $5 a day . CB: Equipment responsibility &security deposit, from agreement MWC: Insurance available through travel package SW: Customer is responsible for any damage to gear. All gear we rent is damage free before it leaves the store. What is your policy on counting days sailed? HI: We offer the fairest policy. If you sail, you pay. HT: Customer only pays for the days he (she) sails but customer must turn in equipment on "off" days. SBM: On no wind days, we offer the customer an instant credit to be used for future rentals. In unusual circumstances, we will refund. WR: If equipment is out it is counted as a day sailed CB: No wind day, no charge MWC: We only charge for days actually used. SW: Customers only pay for the days they sail. A "Lay Day" is given when the gear is returned to the shop. So, customers only pays for the days they choose to sail. We look forward to working with you. " ... Your honest approach and quick responses to my questions and concerns set you apart from all the other people that I spoke to. You also had some good ideas that we were able to incorporate. You also were able to understand my view of looking for a value, and you could have run the price up if you wanted to, but I think you understood what was important to me. Thank you so much for that. The payment for the wedding is what you earned, but the flowers are because of who you are and what a special person you are and I wanted to say thank you for that." Daniel Fisher An important piece of information is that you will need to meet with a licensing agent when in Hawaii before your wedding. All you need to do is complete the application, bring a valid picture ID, be 18 or over, and pay $60 in cash. There may be an additional $5 agent fee. We suggest that you pay the extra $10 fee to rush the processing of the license following your wedding day. This will make it easier for you to proceed with the name change process on your personal documents soon after your wedding. You can download the wedding license application and access additional information regarding the wedding license by clicking on this link: http://www.hawaii.gov/doh/records/vr_marri.html . This license is valid for 30 days anywhere in the state of Hawaii. photos by Maui Photography This Ultimate Wedding Link Exchange site owned by Tori Rogers Click for the Next Page | Previous | Next Five | Random Site | List Sites Want to join the ring?
