I have always loved seeing how happy couples are to receive beautiful Hawaii wedding photographs and video. I know most couples who plan a Hawaii wedding would like to have an excellent chance to get a Romantic Sunset Photograph at the end of their Hawaii wedding. Sadly most locations won't have a sunset and most photographers don't know how to capture it on film correctly even if it did happen. New - There are many couples who come to Hawaii who think that the weather in Hawaii is always nice. Many advertisements offer a sunset wedding package even though the sunset is on the opposite side of the island. This is quite common on Kauai and Oahu. People just don't ask enough questions. Hawaii also gets rain all the time. I worked on Kauai for six years and have seen it rain on far too many weddings. The sunsets are almost never visible.Nearly 50% of Kauai weddings get rain. Hanalei gets so much rain you could have a very wet vacation. It can be very nice but you never know. Maui's free locations are usually very small and crowded. The last two times I was on Maui it rained in Wailea and Lahina. I have seen as many as 14 couples show up at the same beach for a wedding.Oahu is fun and has good shopping, I don't consider it a romantic place. Many couples sit in traffic on their wedding day. I know the best sunset wedding location in Hawaii - and it's free. The sunsets are the best in Hawaii all year. It's like a machine - almost every night. Up at Waikoloa, just 25 miles from Kailua Kona on The Big Island of Hawaii, the rainfall is about 6 inches a year. Very little rain and excellent hotels and activities.What a great combination . Other locations on Hawaii Island aren't nearly as nice. I know several of the very best Licensed Ministersin Hawaii and we are offering an unbeatable wedding package. No one who wants great Photo's likes rain. Here in Waikoloa you have less than 2% chance of rain and 95% chance of a great sunset. We charge less than many other photographers who don't have the equipment or experience that I do. One pro color film, one digital and one backup. This is a slow move to digital. Pro film is still nice with bright highlights - like sunset. Digital images are made availabe on your free web site. I am not substituting to save money on film, it's just that digital is so nice. Actually I am spending lots of money because of the additional cameras, flash and memory cards. Also digital creates endless hours on the computer, but I feel it's worth it now - with the new cameras available. I am always striving to be the very best I can. The prints from digital are made on the same pro photo paper at our lab - made to last 100 years. Digital has arrived and it requires photographers to be computer geeks. I have been editing digital video for years already. Another really great feature about having everything on CD is my ability to edit in some of the best images from the photo shoot when making wedding DVD's - really impressive. Recently we had some bad weather pass by Hawaii. The clouds turned really nice colors after sunset - very very low light and after sunset. With the digital camera I was ready to capture the moment. The scene lasted less than TWO MINUTES. The flexability of digital allowed me dial in the equivelent of ASA 800 film to capture another very special photograph for them - along with the pro film - it's an added benefit that doesn't take away from what I've been doing for many years. This flexability (changing film speed in 10 seconds) is really wonderful. The other benefits of having everything on CD things like cropping and simple retouching at no charge. Also I can make an unlimited number of images. This is great for Photo Journalism style combined with the traditional. Also, if we have everything on CD, magazine style wedding album pages are possible in PhotoShop CS - really cool. Digital cannot be ignored and we are already a digital studio (video).Digital Video is way more complex than Digital Stills. Mention (email me) that you read this and I'll make a free automated website with photographs from your wedding. Available in 1 day. This is nice for family to see your wedding pictures on the net. Usually I email the password once the site is ready. Normally I will leave the site up for 60 days. Should family members want prints they can also order direct. Standard prints including simple retouching and custom cropping are just $10.00 + S/H. I can also host your wedding video on the web - ask for a quote. Video takes much longer to do for the web.

DLNR’s 2007 Budget Summary The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) is requesting $92-million for its operating budget for the next fiscal year (2007). The following summary provides some details on programs and initiatives DLNR will be able to undertake when the budget request is approved. DLNR’s budget is unprecedented in scope and scale and demonstrates Governor Lingle's commitment to protecting our natural and cultural resources for the benefit of future generations. History In 2002, DLNR’s budget was $60-million; DLNR is currently requesting $92-million · The requested amount is unprecedented in the history of DLNR · The difference represents an increase of over 50% over the 2002 budget · The difference represents an increase of over $15-million from this year’s budget Breakdown of $92-million budget request · General Funds - $29-million · Special Funds - $50-million · Federal Funds - $13-million How will DLNR's proposed budget be spent? DLNR’s budget represents an investment in improving the quality of life for the people of Hawaii and protection of our precious resources. Many of DLNR's priorities remain the same. However, DLNR will pursue some of its priorities with new tools and methods: Invasive Species · DLNR stands fast in protecting the resources and fighting Invasive Species is our number one priority because it is the single most-effective way to protect Hawaii’s natural resources · The proposal calls for continuation of DLNR’s multi-year, $4-million per year initiative · Key program goals: Prevention, Response & Control, Targeted Research and Outreach Parks Maintenance · DLNR is expanding on last year’s initiative that focuses on cleaning and repairing our State Parks facilities (Last year, DLNR asked for, and continues to receive, an added $977,000 to State Parks budget for needed cleaning and repairs.) · $486,000 is requested to be added to this increase so DLNR can expand, from semi-annually to semi-monthly, the power-washing, chemi-clean, steam-cleaning and sanitizing of the 85 statewide Parks restrooms Environmental Education · DLNR is requesting $1-million to support statewide environmental education programs · This will add to the already expanding program of making state land available for private operators to provide environmental education to Hawaii’s children. · Funds will be granted through an RFP process to environmental education providers across the state to enhance their existing environmental education programs. Parks - Harbors Security · DLNR is requesting $800,000 to place uniformed security personnel at State Parks and Harbors · Uniformed security personnel will be placed at 22 of our state parks and patrolling our harbors - they will curtail vandalism & break-ins, handle gates and by their presence will eliminate loitering and illegal activities · Presence serves as a deterrent to inappropriate behavior, provides assistance to and educates users, allows DLNR to monitor the resources and, ultimately, enhances protection of the resources and makes for a more enjoyable experience by all · DLNR enforcement officers spend approximately 40% of their time dealing with State Parks (15%) and Boating (25%) concerns · This program will free up time for DOCARE enforcement officers, allowing them to focus on natural and cultural resource concerns Stream Evaluation · DLNR is requesting $650,000 to work toward fulfillment of the State’s obligation to establish instream flow standards for Hawaii streams · Of the 376 perennial streams statewide, DLNR will evaluate the 1,242 stream diversions and will: o Perform field verification of stream diversions o Assess stream characteristics o Facilitate the determination of instream flow standards Watershed Protection · DLNR is requesting a $4.7-million increase in the spending natural area reserves and watershed protection. o $1.6-million will be used to protect Hawaii's natural area reserves – these serve to preserve and protect Hawaiian biological ecosystems and geological formations. o $2.6-million will focus on watershed resources and support the nine Watershed Partnerships that protect over 1-million acres of Hawaii’s forested watersheds. Aquatic Resources Protection · DLNR is requesting over $1.8-million in added spending to protect Hawaii’s aquatic resources and habitats. Land Acquisition · DLNR is requesting a $4-million in increased spending for land acquisition so the state may preserve and protect important natural and cultural resources. Capital Improvement Projects DLNR is requesting $72-million to make needed capital improvements across the state. This amount is unprecedented in scope and scale for DLNR. Waikiki beach is the most famous of all the Hawaii beaches. It is almost perfect in every way - long days of endless sun, fine golden sand, excellent surfing and body surfing, a long stretch of shallow sandy bottom lagoon ideal for swimmers, both inexperienced and experienced, protected areas with no waves and exposed areas with frolicking waves, lots of water activities from catamaran cruises, hobby cat sailing, paddle boats and snorkelling trips and most of all, lots of people, lots of high rise hotels with fantastic views, lots of restaurants and good nightlife. Waikiki Beach is located on the sheltered south coast of Oahu a few miles to the east of downtown Honolulu. Waikiki stretches for almost four miles in an almost unbroken stretch of soft white sand and has over a hundred high rise hotels to choose from and lots of smaller inns and units for rent but only a few of these are absolute beachfront. Waikiki beach stretches for over 2 miles and has several different facets. The eastern side of Waikiki is dominated by the protruding cement pier known as "The Slippery Wall" where surfers and body surfers show their grit by surfing right up to the pier, and sometimes making it clear over the wall. The wall is a man made structure to help protect sand erosion and the beach here is officially called Kuhio Beach. This saltwater swimming pool breaks the surf and allows for calm swimming in any conditions making it ideal for families with small children. A little further east of the pier, away from Waikiki, is Kapiolani Park with its lovely walkways through trees and picnic tables. The beach here is much quieter if you want to get away from the crowds and the swimming good. The wall stops near the flower-adorned statue of Duke Kahanamoku Statue, the reveered royal surfer of the early 1900's. The statue marks the spot where surf lessons are given on the beach and boards of all sizes are rented. The surf at this point is the most popular along Waikiki Beach and whilst the surf is never dangerous, stray surf boards and racing outrigger canoes have caused many accidents. Although the surf at Waikiki is not the most challenging on the island, it is certainly the most reliable. Winter surf is moderate whereas the raging winter surf on the north shore is for experienced surfers only. And when the surf on the north shore goes completely flat in summer, the surf at Waikiki remains good. Waikiki was where the Hawaiian royalty would come to during summer for their surfing and relaxing. Up to this point, the beach is open to the shore front and main road, but to the west of here, hotels claim the beach front and the main road is forced inland from the beach. However, public access to all beaches is allowed and even the grand resorts do not object to passers-by walking through their properties. Several catamarans and racing outrigger canoes are available for rides around the Waikiki surf at this point. The beach gets progressively narrower until just beyond the famous original Waikiki Hotel, the Pink Royal (now Sheraton) where high tide comes right up to the seawall. The beach then opens up again and is officially called the Fort DeRussy Beach and reaches its widest point near the crescent shaped bay holding back Ala Wai Harbour. Here the sea is usually dead calm and great for swimming with sandy bottom and shallow water. Casual water activities are also popular. Beyond Ala Wai Harbour is the equally attractive setting of Ala Moana Beach Park with its paved pathways, cove beach, joggers and fishermen and views of Downtown Honolulu but a stone throw away. Although Waikiki has almost all Oahu's accommodation, there are lots of other lovely beaches around Oahu which can be explored by car.
