Seems your reporterhad a major clinical depression. Hello?Can you say Hell?????!!!! Anyway, I seem to be gettingback to my usual (only semi) sane self. I gotta tell ya sports fans. It ain't no fun bein in that head space. Indeed, the kid ended upin our local nut hut for 5 days. And that's only when it was superknarly. The rest of the nightmare was without professional help. But you don't comehere to listen to this crap. You wanna know if there was any windand waves!!!!! I can't blame ya, shit, I'm sick of hearing aboutmy problems too. So, today, for thefirst time in a month, for the first time since I've been in the bottomlesspit, I went to Ho'okipa to check it out. and brah, I was notdisappointed. Fully logo high waves and a gusty but secure 5.0. Since I had lost 10 pounds and I think most of it was muscle tissue, Iwas in totally shit shape for the conditions. Nevertheless, I didpull of a few great wave rides as my friends saw that I was gonna be hardto kill. Even if the killer was me. I'm hoping you'll bearwith me as I make every effort to get back on the water and bring you,my friends, the best info about what is going on in Maui Windsurfing. Faleomavaega Disappointed With Hawaiian Air May 9, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WASHINGTON, D.C. CONGRESSMAN FALEOMAVAEGA EXPRESSESDISAPPOINTMENT WITH HAWAIIAN AIRLINES DECISION TO INCREASE FARES FOR AMERICANSAMOA Congressman Faleomavaegaannounced today that he is very displeased with the recent fare hikes forflights to and from American Samoa. The increases were announcedthree weeks ago with little warning to the residents and travel agenciesin the territory. The Congressman has written to the President andChief Operating Officer of Hawaiian Airlines, Mr. Mark Dunkerley, requestingan explanation. In early April I received a letterfrom a concerned constituent communicating that the fare hikes not onlywere substantial, but completely unanticipated, providing travel agentsand travelers little time to prepare for the transition. We havealso come to learn that Hawaiian Airlines, the only commercial passengerairlines operating between Pago Pago and Honolulu, raised fares only betweenHawaii and American Samoa, but not to any other destinations, the Congressmansaid. In mid April, Hawaiian Airlinesdrastically increased its fares to and from Pago Pago and Honolulu by atleast 26%. The new fares are now 16% higher than comparable routesfrom Apia to Honolulu on Polynesian Airlines, and 31% greater than faresbetween Papeete and Honolulu on Hawaiian. Furthermore, fares to otherU.S. destinations on Hawaiian have remained unchanged. While routes originating in Honoluluon Polynesian and Hawaiian Airlines admittedly have comparable fares atpresent, prices for tickets in the opposite direction, that is originatingfrom American Samoa, are significantly higher on Hawaiian compared to othercarriers operating in the South Pacific. These are the changes thatare affecting the residents of American Samoa who frequently travel toHawaii. I believe these changes are inexplicably unfair. The people of American Samoa deservean explanation, and I too expect Hawaiian Airlines to respond to my concernsregarding this issue. As the only commercial passenger airline operatingin American Samoa, Hawaiian Airlines should be cautious to prevent theimpression that they are behaving like a monopoly, the Congressman concluded. The areas towardsDiamond Head are near to the expansive picnic and recreationalfacilities, including those of Kapiolani Park. Yes, the surfboards andswimsuits have shrunk and the high-rise forest has grown, butfolks still come here for the same reasons as always: to soak upthe tropical sunshine, to splash around in the surf, and toengage in that unique Waikiki tradition — the outriggercanoe ride." Newcomers should take special care whenusing personal flotation devices (e.g., inflatable mattresses,styrofoam swim boards, et al.) — they are just nosubstitute for good swimming technique. 2004/12/15 - Hawaiian and Island Air Eliminate Lines for Interisland Connections Help/FAQ Sitemap Hawaiian Airlines News Release Hawaiian and Island Air Eliminate Lines for Interisland Connections HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Airlines has teamed up once again with Island Air to improve interisland travel by introducing interline e-ticketing for their mutual customers. The new e-ticketing agreement further enhances the code share partnership established between the two carriers in August and makes flight connections even more convenient to Molokai, Lanai, and West Maui. Mutual customers of Hawaiian and Island Air having travel itineraries with flights on both airlines can now enjoy the ease of purchasing a single e-ticket and checking in only once at the original point of departure. Hawaiian's agreement with Island Air means we have now extended the technology and convenience of paperless ticketing to travelers of all six islands, said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiians president and chief operating officer. There's no unnecessary hassles, no messing with paperwork, and, most importantly, no waiting in check-in lines. Interline e-tickets are now being issued by Hawaiian and Island Air through their respective reservation centers, at airport locations and ticket offices. In addition, e-tickets for Hawaiian are scheduled to be available at all domestic travel agencies by end of December. Dunkerley added, Our goal is to convert our ticketing to 100 percent paperless and we're getting close. The biggest e-ticketing conversions we still need to make are with international carriers and that will be accomplished by next year. Island Air is the latest carrier Hawaiian has launched an interline e-ticketing agreement. Previous e-ticketing arrangements include American, United, Northwest, Alaska, America West, ATA, Delta, and Continental. Hawaiian plans to establish interline e-ticketing partnerships with a number of international carriers in 2005, including British Airways and Japan Airlines.
