The hotel has undergone a huge renovation in 2001 and it is just beautiful. At night the torches light the beach beneath you and it is on the quieter side of Waikiki so it isn't as crazy as downtown sometimes gets. In my opinion it is a safer area too, at least it felt that way. The beach in front of the hotel is perfect for little ones because of the man-made barrier.
