Hawaii honeymoon, coming in

Hawaii, Hawaii Vacation, Hawaii Map, Hawaii Honeymoon, Hawaii Hotels, Hawaii Cruise, Hawaii Travel Home > Destinations > North America > United States > Hawaii > Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii has long been a top choice of visitors seeking an idyllic island escape. You won't spend much time in any of the Hawaii hotels because you will be outside so much. The soothing beaches, fragrant forests, fiery sunsets, and the signature leis that are presented during a warm Hawaii welcome to a luau or as you begin a Hawaii cruise all combine to make your Hawaii travel experience everything you could hope for in an island trip. Hawaii is a general name for a chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean, each of which has its own name, including one island thousands of feet underwater, which is still in the process of being formed but that already has a name. Hawaii is considered part of the Pacific Rim and is generally known as being part of Polynesia, despite its distance from the South Pacific. For 30 years, a Hawaii vacation has been the choice of millions of travelers. An average year will see up to 6 million visitors. Despite this, there are tons of out of the way spots to wander through quiet forests or bike down ocean side cliffs. Hawaii travel for many begins on Oahu, home to Waikiki beach and the city of Honolulu. All year round the weather is warm and sunny, but most Hawaii travel takes place during the months of December to February, when visitors want to escape the cold weather where they live. If you want the islands to be the setting for your romantic Hawaii honeymoon, coming in the off-season will ensure off-season rates on Hawaii hotels and uncrowded beaches. Volcanic activity is responsible for the creation of the islands of Hawaii. 137 islands and islets make up the official count, although if one looks at a Hawaii map, they will only see 7 major islands. Most of the population of roughly 1,200,000 lives on these main islands. Hawaii travel is a big part of the economy, so everywhere you go, you will likely encounter the warm spirit of Aloha and the pride that fills the people whose ancestry is interwoven with these idyllic islands. Watch the forces in motion that were responsible for the creation and expansion of Hawaii. Kilauea , on the Big Island, is home to the world's most active volcano, and it just happens to be on the same islands as the world's largest volcano, Mauna Loa, which rises to almost 14,000 feet. Naturally areas like the wilderness these volcanoes are set in are protected and set aside as National Parks. You can find incredible natural wonders on every island, and the various activities such as ATV tours or scuba diving that allow you to experience the beauty of the islands from a different perspective on your Hawaii vacation. Most Hawaii hotels have concierges that can help you figure out what there is to do and see. If one looks at a Hawaii map , one will see the most of the major cities and roads are situated around the perimeter of the islands. This makes for great road trips and relative isolation when you choose to explore the interiors. Honolulu is the capital of the state of Hawaii as well as the largest city. This is a great place to come if you are looking to book activities such as a sunset dinner Hawaii cruise or the innumerable companies that can arrange a package Hawaii honeymoon, with a romantic barefoot ceremony on one of the scenic beaches. Aside from a romantic Hawaii honeymoon and an exciting Hawaii cruise that so many visitors come here for, you can get a taste of the culture by coming during September for Aloha week, where you can enjoy colorful parades and hear Hawaiian music, or you can visit during May for the popular lei day. For an exciting and unforgettable experience on your Hawaii vacation, drive on the new road that is west of Highway 130 on the Big Island. Make sure you wear shoes with good traction for the one-mile walk on the lava to see where the earth meets the sea in a fiery display of the volcanoes that are slowly but continually altering the Hawaii map. contact us | advertising with us | content licensing | privacy policy | terms of use | help (C) 2004 Destination360 All Rights Reserved Hawaii Map Select a region North America Central America South America Caribbean Hawaii Overview When to Go Events and Holidays Top 10 things to do Hawaiian History Interisland Flight Flights to Hawaii Hawaiian Islands Oahu Maui The Big Island Kauai Destinations Waikiki Hawaii Volcano Park Nai Pali Coast Waimea Canyon Pearl Harbor Hana Highway Hawaii Hotels Oahu Hotels Maui Hotels Big Island Hotels Kauai Hotels Travel Resources ATV Tours in Hawaii Hawaii Cruises Hawaiian Dinner Cruise Hawaiian Car Rental Hawaii Diving Golfing Helicopter Tour Luau Sailing Snorkeling Snuba Surfing Hawaii Weather Weddings Wedding Photographer

If you go, you'll want to check it out more than once; there are quite a few intriguing entries on the menu board. I recommending starting with the 9-inch pizza with your choice of three toppings for under eight bucks. The crust is the highlight here--it's thin and crisp; almost cracker-like. The food here is rather carefully and lovingly made, and that's a huge, huge plus in my book. There are quite a few vegetarian items on the menu, of which the hummus is probably best. The 'net connection is sometimes quite pleasingly fast; often, it's a little slow. Still, it's free, and your fountain drink is bottomless, so it's easy to slide into cruising mode and surf at in leisure-mode. The endless parade of college lovelies doesn't hurt, either. :) My other favorite wireless hangout is Coffee Talk, but parking in the municipal lot in Kaimuki has gone up to $.75 an hour (up from four bits), which is still pretty cheap, but there's a reason I can't pay my ISP bill just yet; there's no way I can swing coffee AND parking! W e mentioned it in our overall guide to Hawaiian cuisine , but it's worth a mention here, too. The plate lunch is as big a part of life in Honolulu as surfing and avoiding overly-strenuous work. It is served mainly out of mobile roadside carts throughout the city and consists of beef or pork, Hawaiian noodles, two scoops of rice and sometimes macaroni salad. For around $5, it's one of Hawaii's best food values. It's also delicious. It's so popular here that its served as a drive-thru, the L&L Drive-in. There are locations all over the island, including one just inland of Duke's on Kuho Ave., just Ewa of the International Marketplace (this is a walk-in place, with tables or food to-go, called L&L Hawaiian Barbeque). There's also the Rainbow Drive-in. Another inexpensive lunch option is Auntie Pasta's (Beritiana and Pensacola). It has great Italian food for $6-10. There's no parking, though. While we're on the budget items, Magoo's is a local pizza place that's as much of attraction for the cheap beer as it is the food. Young locals go here to eat, drink and be merry. The best food deal in Honolulu is, without question, Happy Hour at the Chart House. It features large appetizers at Chart House quality for $5-7. Served in the bar area, it overlooks sunset at the Gilligan's Island harbor. There's always a slight breeze blowing, a mellow musician and drinks also at Happy Hour prices ($3 for a pint of local lager). It's just above the Harbor Pub, which has arguably the island's best pizza. Beers are just $1.25 from 4-7 and the cocktails are a strong pour. The Shack is a wooden, well, shack, that serves fantastic burgers and cold beer right on the water in Kailua on Ohau's windward side. It's far from the tourist areas and has sister locations in Los Angeles. and Tuesdays are "Shack attack" days, meaning all burgers are $1 cheaper. A couple of finer restaurant choices are Roy's in Hawaii Kai (just past Maunalua Bay) for Euro/American fare. There are 25 nightly specials and an extensive wine list. Sam Choy's on the edge of downtown is one of the best spots for authentic Hawaii food. Gordon Biersch is a small national micobrewery chain, but the food is terrific. Located in Aloha Towers, it's a popular eating/gathering spot, making it an ideal place to drink, socialize and nourish. Sansei is a rock 'n roll sushi place in the Marriott (sushi is half-off every night after 10 p.m.). It gets a good bar crowd, too. Angelo Pietro's is another restaurant/bar that's more of a bar than a restaurant on Sunday nights. Same deal with the Brew Moon , a microbrewery in the Ward Center. But don't miss the Asian/French fusion at Angelo Pietro's, one of the locals' favorite dining spots. One the fine dining side, Michel's in the Colony Surf Hotel is one of Honolulu's best restaurants. It's French and expensive and men need a jacket (they will provide one for those who packed only, say, Aloha shirts). Ask for "Antie Eva" for the royal treatment. This traditional dining spot has been a tradition since opening in 1962. For all-night munchies within stumbling distance of the bars is the Wailana Coffee House across the street from the Hilton). It's an upscale coffee house open 24 hours. We can't vouch for the quality of the food, but late at night, it's often a place's location that matters more than its taste. Bar trivia: Wilt Chamberlain used to live above the Wailana when he was in Honolulu. He could be found playing handball on the courts by the beach almost daily.
