I found myself craving for the "local Hawaiian food" I left behind. Every chance I have, I return home and the first thing I do is eat at my favorite local Hawaiian restaurants. The cultural mix in Hawaii is amazing. The Hawaiians, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Filipinos, Thai and the Koreans all have made valuable contributions to Hawaii's multicultural society. And because we have this Asian and Polynesian blend, Hawaii has become a "gathering place" for chefs to practice their craft. The festive culinary possibilities are endless. But, nobody can argue, home-cooked meals are the best. Most people would have to agree that their favorite foods are the ones that mom and dad would make for them at home. They bring happy memories back to us when we eat them. Hawaiian Shirts and Hawaiian Dresses photo shoot with Sondra Barker and Lindsay Hayes - December 2003 Hawaiian Shirts & Dresses Photo Shoot - December 2003 To feature our newest Hawaiian shirts, dresses, tops and bottoms, we headed out to a beach located a few hundred yards away from downtown Honolulu. For the December 2003 photo shoot, we chose Sand Island. While most people associate surfing with the North Shore of Oahu, there are other surf spots all around the island. Sand Island is located at the mouth of Honolulu Harbor, Oahu's major shipping port. Sand Island is a popular camp site for those who wish to rough it in a tent a stone throws away from downtown. On a typical day, one can find people crabbing, fishing, surfing, and canoe paddling in the waters just off-shore. This photoshoot marks the debut of Sondra Barker and Lindsay Hayes for AlohaFunWear.com. Sondra is a University of Hawaii student and has quite a funny streak. Lindsay is a hair stylist in Honolulu and agreed to be in the photo shoot after some gentle coaxing. Dave Randall modeled Hawaiian shirts for us in our February 2002 photo shoot at Makapuu Beach. The pictures below depict some fun and not-so-serious moments of our photo shoot as we tried to photograph our latest Hawaiian shirts and especially our different styles of Hawaiian dresses. We also included our newest super soft rayon Hawaiian shirts and dresses as well as matching Hawaiian print capri pants and halter top. The Maui Windsurfing DAILY Report r September 7th 1998 What Happened? I turn around, and a month has gone by with out a daily. Un believeable!!! Some of you die hards wrote and asked what the sheet wasup! It seems many of youactually read this junk. and believe it or not, it's important tome too. But I've been down for the count. I mean really down, my loyal,vicarious boardhead friends. Seems I sorta blewmy mind. Really, I came down with this strange malady and it wasn'tfor weeks that the docs came up with a diagnosis. Seems your reporterhad a major clinical depression. Hello?Can you say Hell?????!!!! Anyway, I seem to be gettingback to my usual (only semi) sane self. I gotta tell ya sports fans. It ain't no fun bein in that head space. Indeed, the kid ended upin our local nut hut for 5 days. And that's only when it was superknarly. The rest of the nightmare was without professional help. But you don't comehere to listen to this crap. You wanna know if there was any windand waves!!!!! I can't blame ya, shit, I'm sick of hearing aboutmy problems too. So, today, for thefirst time in a month, for the first time since I've been in the bottomlesspit, I went to Ho'okipa to check it out. and brah, I was notdisappointed. Fully logo high waves and a gusty but secure 5.0. Since I had lost 10 pounds and I think most of it was muscle tissue, Iwas in totally shit shape for the conditions. Nevertheless, I didpull of a few great wave rides as my friends saw that I was gonna be hardto kill. Even if the killer was me. I'm hoping you'll bearwith me as I make every effort to get back on the water and bring you,my friends, the best info about what is going on in Maui Windsurfing.
