If you have ever been then you would know EXACTLY what to expect - inexpensive, tasty and plentiful portions of Asian inspired dishes. YUM! Posted by Anonymous on 08/17/2005 Ordered Delivery The food was good and the price was great... Posted by ed on 07/06/2005 Just fair Ate at this location july 3. Mediocre at best. This is just a fast food restaurant. Posted by Boy Bunny on 07/05/2005 Paradise Pig Out Don't let the fast food decor fool you--the food is delicious AND cheap! I had the kahlua and lau lau combo--any restaurant that allows you to double up on pork is all right in my book. It was served with rice AND macaroni salad--two carbs instead of just one! Along with the usual ketchup, mustard, and relish, there was a very good Vietnamese hot sauce on the condiment stand. Lest you think I'm totally unhealth conscious, the taro leafs and cabbage that came with the kahlua and lau lau were tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about my dining experience. Posted by islander on 06/18/2005 Gotta love it Finally, authentic tasting island style bbq...cheap and does the trick. Having been away from the islands for a while, it's nice to know that I can still get a taste of home here in NYC. BBQ chicken, kalbi and mac salad just as I remember it. I was surprised they even had spam musubi! Read More ... The bigger, the better. Wherever you go in the islands, theres bound to be a festival taking place, with all types of food , entertainment, games and more. Some festivals are big, some are small, but each one offers generous servings of warm aloha spirit. The largest festival happens each June on the island of Oahu . Taste of Honolulu, is a three-day event that showcases food samplings from more than 25 of the islands top restaurants. In addition to the great food, theres live musical entertainment, cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, a beer garden and family exhibits. Theres a nominal admission charge, and food is sold by scrip. A similar benefit takes place on Maui each September. A Taste of Lahaina , a two-day event at Lahaina Recreation Park, offers savory samplings from more than 25 Maui restaurantsfrom mahimahi over jasmine rice to spaghetti and meatballs. The event benefits several youth groups on the island, including schools and athletic organizations. The resort area of Wailea has its own food event. Part of the Maui Film Festival, the Taste of Wailea features Wailea s top chefs preparing mouthwatering portions of their signature dishes (which are, naturally, accompanied by some of the worlds finest wines). Each summer, food and wine aficionados from all over the country head to Kapalua on Maui for the Kapalua Wine & Food Festival . Regarded as Hawaiis most prestigious and longest running food and wine extravaganza, this four-day event features exclusive wine tasting seminars, cooking demonstrations by internationally acclaimed chefs and a fantastic selection of the worlds premier wines. On the Big Island , the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival takes place each November. The 10-day festival includes more than 30 community events, including coffee tastings, art exhibits, recipe contests and more. These are just a few of the festivals that highlight Hawaiis special events calendar. Be sure to check ahead and see whats coming up during your Hawaiian stay!
