I had the kahlua and lau lau combo--any restaurant that allows you to double up on pork is all right in my book. It was served with rice AND macaroni salad--two carbs instead of just one! Along with the usual ketchup, mustard, and relish, there was a very good Vietnamese hot sauce on the condiment stand. Lest you think I'm totally unhealth conscious, the taro leafs and cabbage that came with the kahlua and lau lau were tender and flavorful. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about my dining experience. Wailea has internationally-acclaimed condo complexes built on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Both Wailea and Makena properties include condos on the beach and on the beautifully-manicured fairways. Kapalua and Kaanapali resorts on West Maui have many condo developments on the shore, and sprinkled among the world-class golf courses. Upcountry is zoned agricultural, and here you will find horses and cattle, farms and vegetables. Building restrictions do not permit condo developments in this region, but Pukalani is an exception. The central section of the island--the Kahului and Wailuku areas--have newer Maui condos set among older homes. Affordable Condo Rentals and Homes The resort communities of Maui are expensive. These areas are prime real estate--exclusive and upscale. Fortunately, however, there are several affordable areas nearby. On South Maui, Kihei is home to locals who work in the hotels and resorts. It also provides lodging, accommodations, and condos at budget-conscious prices. Lahaina, on West Maui, is an old whaling town, and it successfully mixes older homes with newer Maui condos. Central Maui, the civic, commercial region of the island, also offers a potpourri of types and prices of housing. With the hot tourist spots located on the southern coast of Maui (West and South Maui), the central isthmus takes care of the business of the island. Depending on location on Maui, a visitor can find a range of condos from luxury to affordable, from beach front to hillside. The ship is in the middle of a 14-day cruise that terminates in San Diego this weekend. However, the Infinity's propulsion system developed problems and will go in for replacement when it calls at San Diego. Passengers booked on the Hawaii cruise will get a full refund of charges and a free Celebrity cruise of 10 days or less to be used within a year. Travel agents will get a $50 commission for rebooking a customer. Celebrity Cruises' parent Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. said the cancellation would cause a 3- to 4-cent decrease in the company's earnings. 2004/12/15 - Hawaiian and Island Air Eliminate Lines for Interisland Connections Help/FAQ Sitemap Hawaiian Airlines News Release Hawaiian and Island Air Eliminate Lines for Interisland Connections HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Airlines has teamed up once again with Island Air to improve interisland travel by introducing interline e-ticketing for their mutual customers. The new e-ticketing agreement further enhances the code share partnership established between the two carriers in August and makes flight connections even more convenient to Molokai, Lanai, and West Maui. Mutual customers of Hawaiian and Island Air having travel itineraries with flights on both airlines can now enjoy the ease of purchasing a single e-ticket and checking in only once at the original point of departure. Hawaiian's agreement with Island Air means we have now extended the technology and convenience of paperless ticketing to travelers of all six islands, said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiians president and chief operating officer. There's no unnecessary hassles, no messing with paperwork, and, most importantly, no waiting in check-in lines. Interline e-tickets are now being issued by Hawaiian and Island Air through their respective reservation centers, at airport locations and ticket offices. In addition, e-tickets for Hawaiian are scheduled to be available at all domestic travel agencies by end of December. Dunkerley added, Our goal is to convert our ticketing to 100 percent paperless and we're getting close. The biggest e-ticketing conversions we still need to make are with international carriers and that will be accomplished by next year. Island Air is the latest carrier Hawaiian has launched an interline e-ticketing agreement. Previous e-ticketing arrangements include American, United, Northwest, Alaska, America West, ATA, Delta, and Continental. Hawaiian plans to establish interline e-ticketing partnerships with a number of international carriers in 2005, including British Airways and Japan Airlines.
