These exclusive designs have always been highly prized by residents and visitors alike and have never been available anywhere other than the store in Kaunakakai. As a result, they have always been one of the must things that folks bring home after a visit to the island. Now, a select few of these items are available to web surfers the world over. Over the years, the owner Jim Brocker, has taken thousands of superb photographs of Molokai and her people. Combing these photos with creative writing abilities he has authored Molokais two best selling books. The Lands of Father Damien , released August 1998, immediately hit Hawaii's Best Seller list. The book deals with Molokais Kalaupapa Peninsula, the people who were banished there and the dedicated priest, Father Damien. Containing 108 sepia-tone archival photos and 277 color prints, it is the largest pictorial publication in existence dealing with the events that took place in this desolate place. Jims previous book, A Portrait of Molokai. , is a must for anyone who has, or is planning to, visit the island. This 160 page book contains 375 color photographs that capture the spirit and beauty of this special place. HoloHolo cruises to Na Pali, voyages to Niihau, and returns to Kauai. Check in for guests at 6:00am departs at 6:45am; return time to Port Allen is at 1:30pm. This is our premier trip aboard our 65' power catamaran no other company offers this trip. We are the original "Niihau" tour company. Although the company has "only" been going to Niihau since 1997, our captains and crews have been going there for years- fishing, diving, and marveling at its beauty. Our Supertour leaves from Port Allen. We head west and north to the Na Pali Coast. This is where you see the waterfalls and lush valleys and sea caves that has made this one of the worlds treasures. After seeing this coast we then cruise across the channel to the island of Niihau. When we arrive at Niihau we sightsee for a while, then choose our snorkel spot! Our caring crew will assist and instruct you in snorkeling; relax, float, and watch the comings and goings of the aquatic world. No other place in Hawaii offers you such unique formations. Niihaus " old" age means it has been shaped and carved by ocean currents and waves the longest. If you are lucky you might see one of the Hawaiian Monk seals that inhabit this area! Their curiosity and grace will amaze even the most experienced individuals. After snorkeling we will have lunch waiting for you. We offer a full buffet-style lunch with your choice of deli meats, cheeses, and of course all the fixings for a sandwich work of art. We also have pasta, potato salad, fresh island fruits, and veggie-wraps to round out your meal. While you are eating we talk story about the island, the people and history of Niihau and Kauai. We have all taken great pains to ensure accurate and interesting information to pass along to you. When you have rested and relaxed, we will then head back across the channel to Kauai and home. Catch a display of the Brain Train floats on the Peace Quad drive after the parade. Festivities kick off at 1 p.m. with a hula dancing performance. The 2003 Exemplary Student Award will be announced at approximately 1:10 p.m. The luau will also feature a dunk tank, spaghetti wrestling and a limbo contest. A steel drum band will provide a performance. Students and alumni can sign up for prize drawings, which will take place throughout the afternoon. Various student and campus groups will table in the Luau tent village. A menu reflective of Homecomings hula theme will be available. Treats include aloha chicken breast sandwich, veggie burgers, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh fruit and tropical bars. Students eat free, alumni and visitors pay $3 at the Alumni Welcome Center. Giveaways include smoothies pina colada and orange squeeze and popcorn.
