Tallship Hawaiian Chieftain - Sailing, Tours and Yacht Charters on San Francisco Bay January, 2005 The Hawaiian Chieftain has relocated tothe East Coast under new ownership and will not be returning to the SanFrancisco Bay. We would like to thank the thousands of peoplewho have sailed aboard the Hawaiian Chieftain over the past 12 years.It really is all about teamwork, we could not have done it without youand thank each and every one of you for your support. While we know that the Hawaiian Chieftain will be greatly missed, we are pleased to announce and endorse the programsthat CALL OF THE SEA will beoperating in the San Francisco Bay Area. Call of the Sea is an educational non-profitorganization dedicated to connecting people to the sea through the uniquehands-on learning experience of sailing aboard a traditional ship. Originally founded in 1984 by local sailors and headed by Capt. Alan Olson,it has recently reorganized by merging with Voyage Seaward, a like-minded,dynamic and dedicated group led by Capt. Ken Neal-Boyd. This neworganization will start educational programs this spring. These powerful experiential and educationalprograms will serve a wide variety of San Francisco Bay area youth andcommunities. Many will come from at risk and underserved backgrounds.To help provide funds for these programs, CALL OF THE SEA will offer privatecharters, public sails and adult educational sailing programs.
