My name is Mike Crawford. I've been fishing in Maui waters since the late 60's -- professionally for over 25 years. I don't operate my own sportfishing charter business anymore. Instead I rely on my experience to personally direct Maui visitors to the fishing operator which best fits their needs. At Fish Maui.com you'll find thorough, honest information about the Maui sport fishing industry. When you arrive on Maui, you're gonna find yourself BOMBARDED by activities agents -- 90% of whom know abolutely NOTHING about fishing. Most are profit driven, and will do their damndest to book you on a charter boat which pays the highest commission, regardless of the quality of the trip. I run FishMaui.com because I REALLY LOVE fishing. If you email me, you WILL receive a personal response in return, typically within a few hours. No canned, impersonal messages, no hype. Simply answers to your questions about fishing on Maui. So for now, surf the site, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email or call me at home at 877-889-7035. HAWAIIAN MUSIC LYRICS -- LIST OF LINKS HAWAIIAN MUSIC LYRICS -- WEBSITES MELE.COM does not provide lyrics all requests will be directed to this page, with links to sites/businesses which provide lyrics (some also provide translation and chords) The first place to look for lyrics, is in the liner notes of every CD which includes the song (to find recordings of a specific song, click "Search" on the MELE.COM front page, and follow instructions given) Pa'a ka waha, nana ka maka; hana ka lima. Shut the mouth; observe with the eyes; work with the hands. (One learns by listening, observing and doing.) This was the traditional method for learning Hawaiian songs, as one sat near a musician as s/he played. Songs and tunings were passed down through generations of families -- from kupuna (elder) to keiki (child). Hawaiian songs were rarely (if ever) put in writing, not even the lyrics. Very few musicians in Hawai`i could read music, so this was how the songs were perpetuated. Even today, many of the "top" musicians in Hawai`i do not read sheet music...they learn the old way, or from listening to a particular song over and over (on tape or CD) and playing along until they feel ready to play the song in public. Hawaiian music fans outside the islands -- in their eagerness to learn the lyrics and translations of their favorite songs -- are often dismayed to find that they may, too, have to learn "the old way". While some Hawaiian CDs include this information in their liner notes, many do not. Harry's Music (O`ahu) for Hawaiian sheet music. It is the primary hub for domestic overseas and interisland flights and is currently one of three State airports accommodating international flights. Honolulu International also functions as a joint military-civilian airport sharing airfield facilities with Hickam Air Force Base. The Airport occupies 2,216 acres of land and 2,210 acres of water about three miles west of Downtown Honolulu, and seven miles from Waikiki. The airfield consists of two parallel east-west runways, two parallel crosswind runways, associated taxiways and navigational aids. Facilities include a complex of general aviation, air cargo, and airport support facilities at the south Ramp near Ke'ehi Lagoon and the passenger terminal complex at the North Ramp. A complex of maintenance and air cargo facilities, principally for the interisland airlines, is located west of the terminal complex. In ancient times, Oahu was called the 'gathering place'. Voyaging canoes from all other islands would meet on Oahu's shores. Today Oahu is again the 'gathering place' that includes visitors from around the world. The voyaging concept, therefore, is particularly appropriate as a metaphor for travel in the Honolulu International Airport, the major airport of entry and departure for the Hawaiian Islands. It provides a link between the travel of the early Hawaiians and the visitor today.
